There has never been a better time to book a break on a budget. Cheap holidays are no longer a rarity; world events and the economic downtown means that flight companies and anyone who owns tourist accommodation will be looking for innovative ways to draw in new, essential business. And the guaranteed way to do this, is to reduce costs and add value to the holiday experience.
Traditionally, May has been a quiet month for holidays abroad, and with a little research, good deals have been possible to find. But this year, there are low prices available for all types of holidays. Villas, cottages and hotel rooms are now often available at half their normal room rate. So for a high class holiday, without a heart stopping price tag attached, May could be the month to take off and experience a new destination. Prices are expected to rise at the end of the month when the half term school holiday begins, so begin your search now, and bag a wonderfully cheap holiday.
Breaks Abroad
There are bargains to be had in Tunisia and Egypt. The number of discounted holidays available may be due to the difficulties in neighbouring countries, but some 400 miles away from any political unrest, is the Red Sea Resort of Sharm El Sheikh and there are some great all-inclusive 4 and 5 star hotel deals. With flights, your room and meals covered, you’ll only need a little spending money to have a first class holiday, at under £350 per person.
Look out for deals in southern and eastern Europe too, particularly countries like Turkey, where May is the perfect month to go exploring before the summer heat really kicks in. Stay in a traditional conical stone cottage in Puglia, Italy. These are spacious and deliciously cool after being out in the sun all day. Puglia is very pretty, and being slightly off the beaten track, development is still low key. Deals include car hire, so you can see some of Italian countryside at your own pace.
UK and Eire

Ordinarily, you might think twice before investing in a luxury short break, however, a bit of self indulgence is much more palatable, when you have saved yourself 50% off the normal fee – it means that a luxury break is possible to achieve, without putting a dent in the savings tin.
