You don’t need an excuse to take your parent off on a trip for a few days – but here are a few ideas that might appeal for a special Fathers Day Trip. Fathers Day is on 17th June, so if you’re thinking of surprising your Dad with a fews of “Rest and Recouperation”, take a look at these places to get the ball rolling.
SkyJump in Las Vegas, USA
If your Dad loves a bit of a thrill, then he’ll love the Stratosphere sky jump! This is the highest controlled freefall in the world and in an urban environment no less. The jump is from the 108th floor of the Stratosphere Tower, 855 feet above the Las Vegas strip! It is an incredible experience. Try it by day, night or both! There are plenty of other things to do in Las Vegas too, from trying your luck in a casino to catching a fantastic show, trekking in Red Rock Canyon, or seeing the Hoover Dam.
Beer in Belgium
And for beer enthusiast, consider Belgium and its brewing traditions for your time out! The country has long been considered a powerhouse of the craft beer industry with over 170 breweries producing a huge range of drinks, from blonde beers to fruit lambics and imperial stouts to the famous Trappist beers, carefully brewed by monks to age-old recipes. Spend a weekend in any Belgian city, do some sightseeing and relax with Dad in a beer café to sample some of over 1,000 different varieties the country produces.
Fishing on Lake Nassar, Egypt
If your Dad loves fishing then one great idea would be to combine his favourite hobby with a holiday abroad. Head to Southern Egypt to enjoy fishing and explore a new country in one fell swoop! Lake Nasser is the world’s largest man-made lake, regarded as one of the best freshwater fishing experiences with 32 different species of fish including the Nile perch and the tiger fish. For great fishing, gorgeous weather and spectacular scenery, Egypt’s tranquillity and natural beauty are amazing!
Golf in Murcia, Spain
The sunny region of Murcia is a popular golf destination and with a large number of fabulous courses to choose from, you can experience a full range of playing experiences. The Nicklaus Golf Trail and should probably be on every golf aficionado’s “to do” list! Murcia itself is a beautiful city, perfect for relaxation, and with over 300 days of sunshine a year, makes for a great break away. With over thirty courses/resorts to choose from, a short break here should be good value and great for laughs.
Grindelwald-Männlichen Cableway, Switzerland
The mountain towns of Grindelwald (3,094ft/943m) and Männlichen (7,316ft/2,230m) in the Swiss Alps are linked by one of the longest aerial cable car rides in the world and the longest one in Europe at 6.2km in length! The cableway was designed to ensure access to the snow-sure and sheltered skiing offered in the Männlichen region. This is a spectacular 30 minute journey with breath-taking views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains!
