A Guide To Nightlife In The Algarve
The Algarve is a wonderful holiday destination during the day, when you can explore the national parks, lounge on the beach in the sun, go shopping at marketplaces and go for walks in the countryside. However, the fun doesn’t stop when the sun goes down below the horizon. On the contrary, the fun is just beginning for the nightlife scene of this region. This area has plenty of great bars, clubs and restaurants where you can drink and dance with friends long into the night. The music is always playing, the drinks are always flowing and the summer nights are long and warm.
In fact, the Algarve has often been named as the region with the best nightlife in Portugal, even ahead of the capital city of Lisbon. There is something about the warm nights and the sandy beaches which just seem to make everyone want to kick up their heels and dance the night away!
The Vilamoura Marina
When you head out for the evening, simply take a stroll along the Vilamoura Marina. As you walk down the wooden walkways with enormous luxury yachts on one side of you and glittering bars and restaurants on the other side, you are sure to see a place which will entice you inside.
Throughout the course of the night, you could do a “pub crawl” along the length of the Marina, stopping in each bar for a drink. The advantage would be that you would have a great variety of excellent drinking establishments and you wouldn’t have to stumble far to get back to your hotel at the end of the night. Also, it is not too expensive to hail a cab and check out a nightclub in one of the neighbouring villages such as Albufeira.
Bars and Nightclubs in Vilamoura
There are so many bars in Vilamoura that you might be wondering where you should start. Of course it depends on your preference and the mood of the particular night, but here are some recommendations of excellent nightlife establishments in the area.
If you love golf you might have a pint or two in The Hole in One which is a sports bar with live music and a golfing theme. The Irish bar is also a fun option as it has a live band quite often and is usually very busy after 11pm.
Also in Vilamoura is Black Jack, which is located inside one of Portugal’s most famous casinos. This bar offers your basic chart topping hits, house music and techno and it is one of the popular hangouts for the football players and athletes who like to holiday in the Algarve in the summer. Ladies Nights on Thursday start in July and they include free drinks for women.
If you are interested in techno music and love huge dance floors teeming with large crowds, you should head to Kadoc. This club is located just outside Vilamoura, halfway to the town of Albufeira. It often hosts foam parties and plays some addictive, danceable beats.
Located in the Vilamoura Equestrian centre is Bliss Vilamoura, which is a bar in an open space with amazing panoramic views over the beach. Many excellent DJs come here to perform and several Portuguese celebrities have been spotted here. The open-air space really makes for a great atmosphere.
