Malta is known not only for its white beaches, prime diving spots, exceptional hospitality, rich history and traditional festivals; this Mediterranean island holiday destination is also known for its old school glamour and retro style which can be seen first hand in the Classic Car Museum.
Where is the Motor Museum?
It’s a small town that not many take the time to visit because they don’t expect much from it, but that could not be further from the truth. Qawra in Malta is home to a small but well stocked Classic Car Museum that shows visitors the simple side of life in Malta. The cars and motorbikes are unlike those that you would find on other European roads simply because Malta is smaller. This does not mean the Motor Museum does not feature some of the classics from Italy, Germany and America, it certainly has those and many, many more to appeal to all visitors.
Regardless, this little museum features some real classics such as the NSU Spider, a Fiat 1200 Vetture Spider, and a vintage Corvette. The museum is not as fancy and architecturally concise as their contemporary counterparts across the ocean, but it is certainly one of the most original Classic Car Museums people will find anywhere else. Not all the cars have panels to describe their origin, but you won’t need them because you’ll recognise most of the stunners they have closely packed inside the building.
Tourists who have had the privilege of visiting the stunning town of Qawra have all agreed that the Classic Car Museum is one of the inimitable sites of the whole island, which is saying a lot considering what Malta has to offer. The museum features old jukeboxes and motorbikes parked and placed between the different retro and vintage cars. It certainly is a trip down memory lane for many older couples.
The cars are in excellent condition and most of the bikes have been restored for the Classic Car Museum exhibition. But these are not the only items on display at the Motor Museum. The institute also displays old jukeboxes, record players and radios, most of which are from the early days of production, when the world starting gliding on the airwaves. Designs from different eras have all been restored and they showcase a time when life was less stressful and full of fun. Take the family and enjoy a day at the Classic Car Museum. It’s considered one of the best motor museums to ever experience. Definitely not to be missed.
