Beautiful Beaches on the Egyptian Coast
Early spring and summer is the perfect time to take a trip to Egypt. You can explore and swim in a very comfortable 20-28 centigrade, which is wonderful after a northern European winter!  Over the last decade, Egyptian tourism has developed quickly, with an emphasis on fantastic service and well equipped resorts. The majority of the major coastal hotels have fabulous swimming pools, entertainment and a variety of eating places. You might think that water was a scarce commodity in this dry environment, but many hotels have their own waterfall and canal systems, helping to keep the air cool. Hotels are child-friendly and easily catered for, with great facilities on site.
Coastal Resorts
In resorts such as Sharm El Sheikh and Hurgada, there is so much to do and see, you’ll never be short of a holiday adventure. For instance, you’ll be offered a huge array of scuba diving and water sport activities. The beaches are kept clean and the water is home to many types of exotic fish. You can sail, water ski and para-sail. Glass bottomed boats provide a great outing for anyone who likes fish, but doesn’t feel a need to get up and close and personal with them! Sitting under a striped awning with a cool drink, watching all manner of marine life shimmering under your feet, is a relaxing way to spend a few hours.
Nuweiba offers a relaxing alternative to the busier resorts. Away from the coast, there is the magical River Nile, where felucca boats with their characteristic white sails glide slowly by, selling their goods up and down the waterways.  There is also The Valley of the Kings, a huge Temple site. You’ll also find Karnak and Luxur – an ancient city. Take a moonlit walk through the old streets and sample some delicious hibiscus tea in one of the many tiny cafes. You’ll find late nate perfumeries selling a fantastic array of traditional egyptian perfumes, the lotus perfume being a favourite. Egyptian women appreciate good perfume, and it makes a brilliant gift to take home.
Excursions
There are lots of excursion opportunities, and these can be made by coach or plane. If you enjoy markets, try the Khan al-Khalili market.  It is definitely a bit of a tourist trap, but great fun, and you can try your hand at haggling for goods – aim for about 25-30% off of the ticket price! There are lots of bustling cafes, tabacco shops and of course, the Cairo Museum where you can see the golden and jewel-encrusted treasures of King Tutankhamen. For the adventurous, you can climb right up inside the Great Pyramid, which is outside Cairo,  but you’ll need to be fairly fit, as it’s very steep! The site has ancient tombs, enormous statues and of course, the three Pyramids.
