Big Country Seeks Big Visitor Numbers
In the next 36 months, thousands of Australia travel packages will be sold – Australia is going to be busy selling itself to the world! The “Land Down Under” has launched the next stage of its “Nothing Like Australia” tourism campaign, which is aimed increasing tourism traffic from countries around the world. The official kickoff for 2012 began in Shanghai, China, but advertisements are planned in the United States and Europe as well. The $170 million budget is geared towards wants to guarantee that a visit to Australia will be your best holiday ever!
The new tourism campaign began in China because China is Australia’s most lucrative tourist market. Australian tourist officials believe that the $3.8 billion that Chinese tourists spent on Australia travel packages in 2011 and could balloon to around $9 billion by 2020. The three main attractions the campaign will focus on are the Great Barrier Reef, Kangaroo Island and the Freycinet Peninsula.
The Great Barrier Reef
Australia’s Great Barrier Reef is located off the coast of northeastern Queensland. It is one of the most incredible sites in the world and Australia’s top tourist destination. Every cubic meter of this lovely, captivating world beneath the sea is filled with different marine and plant life. If you look long enough, you could see six species of sea turtles, 30 species of whales, 17 species of sea snakes, 125 different sharks and stingrays, 215 species of colorful birds and around 1,500 types of fish. The coral has been growing there since the last ice age. Many unusual species make the reef their home. The Great Barrier Reef spreads out over 344,400 square kilometers. It is so large that it can be seen from outer space. No visit to Australia would be complete without a trip to this amazing coral reef.
Kangaroo Island
One of Australia’s best-kept secrets is Kangaroo Island. Although it is revered by some as a tremendous site to visit, many Australians don’t even know it exists. Rather than sun, sea and sand, Kangaroo Island offers tourists beautiful bushland teeming with marsupials and native animals in their natural habitat. Kangaroos and wallabies share the island with koalas, seals, sea lions, penguins and too many birds to count. The animals aren’t the only attraction. The wildlife lives in thick eucalyptus forests, rolling pastures, pristine beaches, lagoons, caves and rugged seaside cliffs with mammoth rock formations.
Freycinet Peninsula
On the eastern shore of Tasmania is the wondrous Freycinet Peninsula. It’s a colorful vacation destination with white sand beaches, sapphire-blue seas and pink granite mountains. On Freycinet, you’ll find luxury hotels, Tasmanian wildlife, Tasmanian wines and the freshest local produce. You can sample any type of seafood you crave. It’s all there in abundance.
See for Yourself.
The “Nothing Like Australia” campaign will be heavily marketed across digital channels and through social media. There’s also an interactive app for Android or iOS devices.
Australia is like no other continent on earth. It’s a great place for a family vacation filled with sights, sounds and tastes that you can’t find anywhere else!
