Things To Do In Dubai
Due to the disparity of wealth in Dubai, you can find great places to eat that are expensive or cheap. Whatever your budget, Dubai has many dining options for you. If you have an unlimited budget, try Gordon Ramsay’s Hilton Dubai Creek. Al Dhiyafah Road is home to many less-expensive restaurants. For sumptuous lamb and seafood, try Pars Iranian Kitchen. The northern end of is home to Sidra which caters to people who love salads.
Don’t expect high-end fashion like you’d find in Paris, Chicago or New York. In Dubai, shopping is about the experience and not the merchandise. Shopping in Dubai is like shopping anywhere except that the malls have over-the-top, unbelievable attractions. The Mall of the Emirates has a ski slope with real snow. You can even buy freshly minted gold coins from vending machines.
If you go to the Bastakia Quarter, you’ll see what Dubai was like before its renaissance as a bustling business Mecca. You’ll find a quaint fishing village nestled among wind-towered buildings. While you’re there, tour a textile souk or the Dubai museum. The museum shows how oil and ambition made Dubai the place it has become.
World-Class Golfing
Go golfing at the world-class golf courses. You can play at the Emirates Golf Club where the professionals participate in the Dubai Desert Classic every year. Ernie Els also designed a course in Dubai. These courses are open to the public if you can afford the greens fees. Many business deals are closed on Dubai’s golf courses. Of course, you don’t need to learn the official language to communicate with your caddy. Golf has a language all its own.
