Step into spring in Barcelona.
Previously we featured a list of events and festivals in Barcelona and here we take a closer look at upcoming events for Spring.
Spring is just around the corner so what better time than now to start planning your Easter or summer holidays. One of the most popular destinations is without a doubt the Mediterranean. Low cost flights with airlines such as easyJet and Aer Lingus offer great travel deals from the UK to the Spanish coastal city of Barcelona. Cheap flights to Barcelona are waiting online so there is always a good excuse to enjoy some sunshine at great prices.
Whether you decide to travel to the Catalan capital at Easter or summer, you can rest assured that there will be something on the agenda to entertain you.
Easter in Barcelona
For example, Spain takes Easter very seriously and there are outdoor processions and celebrations held for example at Barcelona Cathedral on Palm Sunday. Having said this, Barcelona is renowned as being less religious and more cosmopolitan than some of the more traditional Spanish cities, so you may find that your Easter trip to the city is for shopping, clubbing, relaxing and sunbathing.
Sant Jordi
Another popular event leading up to the summer is Sant Jordi which is celebrated on the 23 April every year. This day commemorates Cataluña’s patron saint and is the Catalan version of St. Valentine’s Day. On this day men give roses to women and women give a book to men. There are stalls on the Ramblas selling roses and books, and it is a nice time of the year to visit the city….love is in the air.
