Here we have explored a driving trip you can take if you are visiting Milan.

If you’re planning a holiday in Milan, you can easily turn your trip into a car hire holiday and see more of what Italy has to offer. Turin is a great place to visit and, if you hire a car, you can take a two destination trip, spending part of your holiday in Milan and part of it in Turin.

Car Hire Milan

You can rent a car from online car rental specialist that have car rental offices around the world, including offices in Italian cities and Italian airports. Car hire in Milan is widely available and you can arrange to pick up your vehicle when you arrive in city.

Getting to Turin from Milan by Car

It will take you less than two hours to drive from Milan to Turin in your rental car. Simply leave Milan on the A4 partial toll road and follow this road for about 125km, following the signs for Turin (known as Torino in Italy).

Turin’s Museums

Turin has more than 40 museums and art galleries, so you should be able to find something to suit you, whatever your interests.

Art lovers will enjoy the Pinacoteca Giovanni e Marella Agnelli. The gallery’s main collection includes works by Picasso, Matisse, Manet, Renoir and Canaletto, and there are also temporary exhibitions. Other art galleries and museums in Turin include the Museo d’Arte Orientale (Asian Art Museum), the Galleria Sabauda and the Galleria Civica d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea (The Civic Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art).

You can also visit the Museo Nazionale del Cinema (National Cinema Museum), which is located in a stunning building known as the Mole Antonelliana, which was designed by Alessandro Antonelli. The museum has a wide range of exhibits relating to the history of cinema and photography, and its collections include magic lanterns, movie posters, early photographic equipment and stage sets.

Another of Turin’s most popular museums is the Museo delle Antichità Egizio (Egyptian Museum), where you can see mummies, sculptures and texts from Ancient Egypt.

Italy Car Hire – Turin’s Historical Attractions

Turin has many historical attractions, including palaces, castles and churches. One of its most famous buildings is the Palazzo Real, which was the main residence of the Royal House of Savoy. You can take a tour of the palace to see the King’s Apartment, the Queen’s Apartment and other rooms, and you can explore the gardens, which were designed by the designer of the Palace of Versailles’ gardens, Andre Le Notre.

You can also visit the Duomo di Torino (Turin Cathedral) and the adjoining Cappella della Sacra Sindone (The Chapel of the Holy Shroud). Underneath the Chapel of the Holy Shroud, you’ll find the Museo della Sindone (Museum of the Shroud), where you can learn all about the Turin Shroud, its history and the controversy that has surrounded it.

Other Turin Attractions

Other attractions in Turin include the Parco del Valentino (Valentine park), where you can explore the Borgo MedievaleTorino (a reconstruction of a medieval village) and see beautiful flowers and plants in the Orto Botanico (Botanic Gardens).

Turin also has some excellent shops. You’ll find designer stores and fashionable brand names in Via Roma, and second-hand and antiques stores in Via Po. There are also a number of flea markets held in Turin, including the popular Balôn market, which takes place in Borgo Dora.

    i would be worried about hiring a car in Italy. I have seen the hectic streets on television. Are they really as bad as they are perceived?
