Chile is growing in popularity as a holiday destination. It spans 2,653 miles from north to south and so it is not surprising that it boasts several climates and outstanding areas of natural beauty. Take the north for example, where you can visit the world’s driest desert, the Atacama. Contrast the north with the south which is made up of lush green countryside, lake districts and ice fields. Take a tour of Torres del Paine National Park near Puerto Natales city and discover the Chilean Patagonia and glaciers, or set off on a trekking adventure in San Pedro de Atacama in the Antofagasta region. The capital, Santiago, is located in the middle and it is the best place to start your tour of Chile, so book cheap flights to Santiago first with airlines such as Lan Chile and Iberia.

Visit Santiago for a few days and then take a bus or hire a car to go to Valparaiso, a port city which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Just around the corner from Valparaiso is Viña del Mar, a seaside city where you can relax on the beach and enjoy the great seafood restaurants.
